SIR M. E. (J. DUFF. Received January 14, 4.51 p.m. LONDON, January 13. Obituary—Slir Mouutstuart E. G. Duff, aged 77. (Deceased was born at Eden, Aberdeenshire, on February 21, 1827. He was M.-P. for Elgin Burghs from 1857 to 1881; Lord Rector of Aberdeen University from 1866 to 1872; 'Under Secretary of State for India, 1868-1874; Under Secretary for Colonies, 1880-1881; Governor of Madras, 1881-1886; Member of Senate, University of London, 1891; President Royal Historical Society, 1892-99; President Royal Geographical Society 1889-1893; So vereign'a Trustee of the British i Museum, 1903. He was the author of a number of political publications).
