FIRE.
A NARROW ESCAPE. WAIFAWA, January 9. A serioua fire was narrowly averted early this morning, when the stables conneoted with the Empire Hotel buret into flames. An alarm was raised by the whistling of a passing train. Fortunately there was no wind or the greater part of the town would have been destroyed. There was an insurance on the building of £2OO in the National Office, and on the contents of £4O in the Liverpool and Globe.
