CALEDONIAN CONCERT.
The success which the Caledonian Society achieved lay not only in their sports gathering, but also in the concert, for long before the hour of commencing the Town Hall last evening was crowded in all parts, and many had to content themselves with standing. The programme was a capital one, and that it was popular was evidenced fro~ the frequent applause throughout. Mr R. "H. Rathbone sang "A Freshening Breeze" capitally, and Miss M. CJameron was loudly . applauded for her three songs, "Annie Laurie," ."March of the Oaaieron Men" and "Bonnie Mary of Argyle" Mr Stanley Rankin in a rioh baritone rendered "Wi' a Hundred Pipers" and "The Trumpeter," while Miss Amy Hyde, the possessor of a sweet voice, gave "Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond" and "The Dream of Home," which were deservedly popular, as was Miss North Barrett's "Douglas Gordon." and "Yo Banks and Braes." Mr A. Nicol's "Soot's Wha Hae," and "The Battle of Stirling," Mr W. Iggulden's "Maogregor's Gathering," and Mr R. Duff's "Will-o'-the-Wisp" all m6t with full appreciation. A musical skefcoh was effectively given by Mr A. W. and Miss Newton, and Mr Harry Hall in bis numerous comic songs waa vociferously applauded. During the evening the prize dancer, Mr W. H. Kilgour, danced the sword dance and sheauntruibhas, and the Highlanders in costume danced the Highland E'ling. At the interval the medals won during the day were presented by Mrs J. B. McKenzie, wife of the President of the Society. The takings at the door amounted to approximately £63, but there are still the receipts from the booking to come in.
