UPPER HUTT PLUNKET

(Held over from last tvsek)

SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Upper Hutt Plunket Society was held in St. Hilda's Hall on Thursday evening, June 23rd. Mr. A. J. McCurdy, J.P., presided over the meeting, which was not very largely attended owing to trie stormy night. An apology was received from his Worship the Mayor, who was unable to be present. In opening the meeting Mr. McCurdy referred to the fine tribute paid by the Branch president, Mrs. S. Blackely, to the passing of a loved founder, Sir Truby King, in the annual report. After the reading of the tribute all present stood in silence. In moving the adoption of the annual report, Mr. McCurdy drew attention to the amount of work carried out by Miss Armstrong, Plunket Nurse, during the year, and stated how necessary it was that funds should be kept well in hand, so that there may be no hindrance of the work in the district, a special appeal being made to all those who receive much valuable assistance from the nurse. Mrs. F. Castle seconded the report which was carried. After the election of the committee a very interesting talk was given by Miss Kayring-, the first Plunket Nurse in the Upper Hutt district, who was here on a visit from South Africa. Miss Young is now Matron of the Mothercraft Training Hospital, and she had much of interest to tell of the work being carried out in Capetown. Tomlin, also a play by the members of the Drama Circle of the Upper Hutt Women's Institute. After the close of the programme, all present -were entertained at supper by members of the committee.
