TRENTHAM WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.
Mrs. Kitchen presided over the June meeting of the Trentham Women's Institute. There was a. good attendance and five new members -were welcomed. After the business of the meeting was concluded, Mrs. Kemp, assisted bv Miss Humphreys, of the Upper Hutt's Red Cross Society, gave a most interesting demonstration and talk on home remedies, which was very much appreciated. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded and both were the recipients of a posy of flowers. The competitions for the were:—Ginger cake: Mrs. 1, Mrs. Stewart 2 ; article ir.adc from half a yard of cretonne: Mrs. Stewart 1. Afternoon tea was served by th" hostesses.
Two old friends met again after many years. "Have you heard about F,ii". ?" asked one, referring - to an old n quaintanee. "No," said the other. "v7h" happened to him?" "He dropped dead outside a pub-lic-house." "Going- in or coming out?" "Going - in." "What bad luck."
