UPPER HUTT RIFLE CLUB.
On Saturday a team consisting of 8 members of the clubs competed with x-epresentative teams from all other clubs in the Wellington Union for the Senior Union Shield. Although the club was not successful in winning the Shield, the score put up was quite creditable. The weather was fine, with a right wind which was mainly steady, makingfor high scoring, and a good standard of shooting was maintained. The shoot consisted of 10 shoe's 500 yards and IT. shots at 600 yards, the 300 yards range not being available on account of high rushes between the mound and the targets. Among the best scores were:—soo yards, D. Purvis, 48; B. Dunn, 46; J. Johnstone, H. Whiteman, 45. 600 yards: C. Whiteman, 52 ; T. Whiteman, 50 ; D. Purvis, 49.
Total 737 Next Saturday the club will fire a Service shoot under N.R.A. conditions, and this should prove a worth-while practice for those members intending to participate in the National meeting- in March.
