Casualty List Increased. The Warning Postcards. Vancouver, July 2;i.. .Seven persons were killed and 50 wounded in the San Francisco explosion. The warning postcards sent to citizens protested against the "preparedness " propaganda, and promised a real taste of war to San Franciscans favouring militarism.
GERMAN WAR CORRESPONDENT'S ADMISSION.
Rotterdam, July 24. Hcrr Max Osborn, correspondent at headquarters for the Yossische Zeitung, writes: "Our losses are heavy. The enemy suffered fearful losses, hut we do not blind our eyes to the new mourning which lias come to Germany. We are shaken by a burning pain as new streams of Gorman blood are flowing, and we recognise our powcrlessness, after two years of war. The angel of destruction is passing over the ranks of the German army with merciless fury, as if the death dance had just begun. It is now a question of life or death for our nation."
RUSSIA'S GENERAL PROGRESS. In Courland and the Caucasus. Loudon, July 24. Details of the great battle on the Lower Dwina, which has been proceeding for a week, continue to be meagre. It is reported that the Russians at one place advanced live miles, capturing Kemmern, :.'(} miles west of Riga. They liave 'also driven (he Gorman's across, the Nusse from the Kekkau River, which flows into the Dwina 13 wiles south of Riga.
Meanwhile the (fraud Duke's summer campaign in the Caucasus is extremely promising, mid the weather is good. The Grand Duke has captured Ardasa, by which he has secured all but the last 30 miles of the great military road running from Trebizond to Erzorum and to Eraingan. The Russians still have a range 7(100 feet higU to cross before they can reach Erzingtra from Kelkit Tchiitlik.
