THE JUNIOR CADET SYSTEM
The Minister of Defence, the lion. Mr Allen, has not ,yet lwd time to go fully into the ijfuestion of amending the present organisation of the junior cadets, but he stated to-day thatj 'ho favoured some radical amendments to the existing regulations. As a matter of fact, these regulations have never i 'been cnforcul, and are never lik°ly to be. They provide for camps, formation of ambulance corps, and other matters, the regulations as a whole, the Minister considers, made the junior cadet organisation too military. Some of (he regulations, he remarked, were ridiculous, and would undoubtedly have to be amended. A certain amount of military drill should bo retained, but his own opinion was that sonve of the best features 0 i the boy scout movement should be engrafted in the junior cadet organisation. These, the Minister remarked, were his present opinions, but the\ might be modified to sonv extent at tec ho had gone, moo fully into the matter.
