COOK'S PICTURES.

The abova company opened to a very fair attendance in the Town Hall on Monday night. The company came iwiilx a very good reputation for providing a good, clean, high-class entertainment, and we are pleased to state that the programme submitted on Monday night quite maintained that reputation. The opening turn was an exhibition of logerdoniain by Jlr Braomer who performed a large number of tricks in such a manner as to completely mystify the audience, concluding with what he described as the tub aviary In this trick an apparently einfity tubj is set upon a stool and when one of the attendants has poured a bucket of water into it Brawier proceeds to ox tract therefrom half-a-dozen pigeons.' Mr Karl Skow, the vocalist of the company, contributed three songs, all of a high class, in such a manner as to excite the hearty applause of the audience. Mr Skow is the possessor of a very fine cultured baritone voice, and as a vocalist is certainly alhead of many we have been in the habit of finding associated with this class of company. The animated piotures were of a nicely varied description and distinctly shown. In the second part Mr Braemar gave a very clever exhibition of ventriloquism which delighted the younger part of the audience especially Some of the jolces perpetrated by the " talking " doll were, however, just a trifle strong and this part would certainly not have suffered hqd some of these been omitted. On the whole we must admit the entertainment was a satisfactory one, and one evidently enjoyed by all present. lA.t the conclusion Mr Braemer announced that the company wiould probably pay a return visit in about a couple of months.
