HOT WEATHER IN NEW SOUTH WALES.
BUSH FIRES RAGING. Sydney, -December 18. At 26 stations up-country the ther-
mometer registered over ioodeg. It was theWghest at Brewarrina, where it stood af 1 xodeg. The hot weather is bringing the usual quota of bathing fatalities. The drowning of five boys was recorded yesterday, including two at Blackheath, where one lad was trying to rescue the other. The bush fires in the Wilcannia district have been got under after they had swept a wide area. Balla Station lost 800,000 acres, Kilfera 300, and Marfield 260 square miles of grass. A cool southerly change has set in, with useful rain.
