THE INSPECTION.

On Wednesday morning Lieut. -Colonel Robin, Commander of the Otago Volunteer District, was present, and after breakfast inspected the company and put them through a number of field movements, the scene of operations being Messrs Potts Bros.' farm. Heavy rain came on and the men returned to camp, where, after horses had been attended to, the Colonel gave the officers, non-coms., and men an hour's instruction in the tent, illustrating his subject by means of the blackboard. The lecture was of a most interesting character, keen attention being paid by all to the various points impressed on them by the Colone 1 . ,

At the conclusion, the Colonel expressed himself as well satisfied with the ellieiency shown by the company. The Colonel left by the afternoon train.
