A HEAVY GALE.

Sydney, September 27. A strong southerly gale bas been blowing, with heavy rain all day and continues unabated. The »in it general; and is very heavy in the northern districts. Eight inches fell at Raymond terrace. The Hunter River is rising rapidly. The lowlands are already flooded, and settlers are removing their stock, and storekeepers their goods, in anticipation of a high j flood. I Nelson's Bay reports that a large sailing vessel went ashore at Morna Point at 4 o'clock this afternoon. One boat reached the land; No lives ; were lost. A heavy sea is running. Nelson's Bay gives the name of the vessel ashore as the Imora. It is sap posed to be barque Oimora, from East London to Newcastle in ballast. No farther details are available. It is believed all hands got safely ashore.
