MORITZSON and Co., Dunedin, j report (wholesale) as follows for the week ending October 2nd, 1901 (all quotations subject to market fluctuations) :— We would ask farmers (when sending samples) always to put a price on them, as buyers do not feel inclined to make offers. Wheat. — The market is fairly active. Fowl feed is in active demand. We quote — Best velvet 2s 8&d to 2a 9£d, best Tuscan 2? S£d to 2* lOd, medium 2s 7d to 2s S\ 1, red cbaS 2i 10 J, fowls' wheat 2a b'd to 2i 7d for besh. ! Oats are in good demand. Prime milling' 2* 4&d ; bright short 2i 3£i to 2s 4d ; medium and inferior Is 8d to 2* 3d. Barley— Feed aorta la 3d to la 6d, milling Is 61 to 19 9d, malting 2i 9d to 3j, extra to 3s ' 6d. Chaff— Wo quote prime £3 10s, medium £2 10* to £3 per ton. Ryeßrass— There is fair demand. We quote — Farmer-dressed, none offering ; machinedressed 2s 3d to 3a per bushel. Cocksfoot, 2si to 3d for farmers' lots, and3£dto 4£d for machined, linseed £10 to* £l1 — m»nted,pressed Straw £1 ss, clover bay £3 ss. Potatoes — £4 10* per ton. Rabbitskins— We offered a fair catalogue tbis week, when competition was good. We quote— Suckers and runners 3d to 4sd, summers 6d to 8&d, autumns 9£d to ll£d, winters 14d to 16§d, selected to 17d— sale every Monday. Sbeepakins-Wo qnote-Poltg 6d to la 101 croßabreds 2a to 3s 6 i— sale every Tuesday. Hides 3£d to 4|J, according to weight and condition. We have a special inquiry and can guarantee the very top market prices. Tallow— Rough fat 12a 6d, rendered 15s to 17s. Horsehair Is Id to Is 2d. Note — Country salca conducted oo the most reasonable terms. Crown Sheep Dtp, the best in ihe market, 4a 6d per gallon. We supply rabbit and sheep netting and quote specially by the mile. Agents for Newten's patent vroolpresa, £13 — can be inspected in our stores. Clover, rape, and turnip seeds all freshly landed, prices on application. Farmers' 4001 b Fairbanks Scale?, £5 10s. \ Gibson's Cattle Brand— We quite 9s for small and 15s for large tins. Bergc r'a red and black sheep-branding oil, is per gallon. We bave erected a Crusher nnd Kibbler and are now prepared to crush grain and linseed and kibble pea 9 and beans. Poultry— Wanted immediately 500 pair bens at 2s 9d, and 100 pairs ducks at 3s 6d. Batter, salt — First grade 9d, second grade Bd, third grade 7d, for milled and dairy butter. Cheese— Good factory 5d to 5Jd, Akaroa 4|i to sd. Onions 17s per cwt. Pigs— For aizeß up to 1601 b 3|l, over that 2|d to 3d — market firmer. Beeswax Is 3d to Is 4d. Honey 4d. Bacon s£d to 6d, good demand, middles 7d, bams 7£d to Bd. Walnuts 4Jd to sd. Batter boxes — 561 b butter boxes with vegetable parchment living 17s per dozen net on trucks bore. Yickery's Egg Preservative 22s per case ; payment must accompany order.
