Messrs Stronach Bros, and Morris report for week ending 25th April as follows :—: — Fat Cattle.— l6B head yarded. All bat prime beef were rather ea&ier: Best bullocks £7 5s to £8 10s, good £6 5a to £7 2s 6d, others £3 10s to £6, best oows £3 15a to £5 15s. Fat Sheep.— 2,s4s penned. Sales opened at slight advance but tapered off and closed below last week's rates. Best wethers 16s 6d to 17s 3d, good do 15s to 16s 3d, others 14s to 14s 9d, best ewes 15s to 17s, good do 13s 9d to 14s 9d, others 12s to 13d 3d. Fat Lambs.— 43B offered. Best 103 to 11s 6d, extra good 12s, others 8s 6d to 9<? 6d. Sheepskins. — Owing to the holidays, including the usual sale day, these were sold on Thursday last. Next sale, Tuesday, Ist proximo, and thereafter weekly. We submitted a large oatalogue and cleared everything at prices fully equal to late quotations. Babbitskins.— Consignments are not yet heavy, and sales are held only once a fortnight, but weekly auctions will be resorted to next month. London sales show a decline of l£d to 2d per lb, which was at once reflected here, prime winters being sold at 15d to 15& d per lb, with other sorts in proportion. Hides. — The demand is good, but sales in the north have weakened. Tallow. — 15s to 183 per cwt, rough fat 13s to 14s per cwt. Wheat. — There has been better enquiry during the week for fair milling quality and good fowl wheat, while buyers are always ready to do business in prime milling lots at quotations, which are for this quality, both velvet and Tuscan, 2s 5d to 23 6d, medium 2s 2d to 2s 4d, whole fowl wheat Is lid to 2s, broken, say, Is 9d to Is lOd per bushel (sacks in). Oats. — While freights are in such a very unsatisfactory state, shippers are not launching out beyond the fulfilment of immediate orders, as the tone of the market is weak. A grade Is lOd to Is lid, B grade ls'Bd to Is 9d, C grade Is 7d to Is 8d per bushel (saoks 6d extra). Potatoes. — Town stocks are heavy and \ values have deolined say, 53 to 7s per ton. Best Derwents 37s 6d to 40s, others 323 6d to 35d (sacks in). i Chaff. — The demand is only for prime at up to £2 17s 6d, other qualities £2 to £2 103 ■ per ton (sacks extra.)
