Lowery, D. Bryoe, R. Cr.ip, H. FleSt, J. Henderson, and Jno. Adam (clerk). Messrs Nelsou, Tullooh »on W. Wallis were mlso preseot on behalf of theia respective dredges. Tbe miDufces of the present raeetiDg were read and confirmed. ■ The adjourned applications from Messrs Mercer and Ailoheson were read and dealt wllh. , „. * iMr J. Palmer moved according to notice of motion that the resolution passed by the Board on August 9, 1897, granting exclusive right to the Gold B»rk 00. to mine on roadline fronting sections 1, l> look 48, and 11 and \ 12, block 42, be reoinded. His naion* for & moving the motion, he said, was that when it was passed the members were not aware that there had been a nrevious apil cation for tbe ro»d, and that the Board hud refused it, stating that they would put no obstacle in the way of the applcant mining it, but that -they would uot interfere or take any responsibility in the matter, that is, by committing themselves by way of reso'ution or agreement that the road was mined by their sanction, and would give no exclusive right to Winers leaving it to the company. If the Hoard was go.ng to iuterfere between mining companies it should act in a fair and equitable manner, and not grant the right of all tbe roadline to one oompany and refuse any portion of it to the other. The Board was actually assuming the power that the Goldfield's War-~ /,- den has not, that is, granting the right to -mine an uulimited area of land for an unmentioned period of time without any restrictions of how or when it was to be mined. The Chairman remarked that ha thought Mr Palmer should get some other one to move in the matter, as Mr Palmer was mteres'ed in tbe dredge. Mr Palmer said he had sold his interest in the dredge, and why treat this oompany in L snch an unfair way? The Board should j L- maintain the same attitude all through. At this stage Mr Craig said the matter waa irregular, not having been " seconded ; however, he would second it pro forma. Mr Palmer, resuming, said he thought the company should bo allowed to mine on the Mr Flett wanted to know if the matter - could not be compromised. Mr Craig said he had been prominently connected with the motion. The Gold Bank Dredge had been to a lot of expense. He thought they were entitled to compensation. '• The Chairaian asked if the meeting was going to rescind the motion passed some months ago. Mr Palmer then moved that the motion be rescinded, and that do action be taken by this Board.— Seconded pro, forma.
