SALE OFPEIVILEGES. Mr J. C. A rbuckle reports having by auction | at his Tuapeka Bazaar on Tuesday afternoon on account of the Tuapelta Jockey Club, the rights and privileges in connection with the race meeting on Wednesday and Thursday, 19th and 20th instants. The competition for each let was spirited, the following being the results -.—Publican's booth, £50, Mr H. Crossan ; temperance booth, £7, Mr J. Cox ; race cards, £16, Mr A. Pellatchie ; fruit stall, £4 10s, Mr Joseph Tamblyn ; after which he sold, on account of vendors — Furniture, jewellery, cheese, I and sundries, which met with fair demand. WEEKLY SHARE REPORT. Messrs Mokitzson and Hopkin, Dunedm, report (wholesale) as follows for week ending January 12th, 1898. Ail quotations subject to market fluctuations :— We would ask farmers, when sending samples always to put a price on them, as buyers do not feel inclined to make offers.; Wheat is in good demand. We quote : Best velvet, 4s 6d to 4s 8d best Tuscans are fetching 4s 4d to 4s 5d ; red chaff, 4s 3d ; fowls' wheat, 3s 3d to 3s 6d. Oats : Demand is very active and prices are Id per bushel higher. Prime milling, 2s Id ; bright short feed", 2s ; medium, Is lid to Is Hid. Barley : Teed sorts, 2s 3d to 2s 6d ; milling, Ss to 3s 3d ; malting, 3s 9d to 4s Bd. Ryecorii, 3s 3d. Flour: We quote, Ll2. Oatmeal, in 25"5, Ll2 10s. Pearl barley,lil6. Bran, LS. Pollard, LB lss. Nelson hops are quoted at lid to Is, Potatoes : Kidneys, £8 to £9 Ejr ton. Chaff : Good well cut oaten sheaf, 4 ss ; medium, L 3 15s to L 4. Byegrass : The demand is active and prices are firmer. " Farmers' 2s to 2s 9d ; machined, 3s 3d to 4s. Cooksfoot, 2,d to 3d for farmers' lots, and 4d to 5d for machined. Linseed, Lll to LU 10s — wanted. Pressed straw, £1 ss. Clover hay, I*3 ss. Basic slag, L 5. Nitrate of soda, LI S. Babbitskins. — We offered a large catalogue this j week, but competition was very dull and prices showed a fall of Id to 2d per lb. Sheepskins.— We quote : Batchers' green crossbreds, 3s 9d to 4s Od ; extra, 5s to 6s ; dry crossbred s, 2s 5d to 5s 6d ; dry merinos, 2s 3d to 3s 6d j medium do, Is 6d to 2s. Sales every Tuesday. Wool. — We held our second sale of the season in in the Agricultural Hall on Monday, when we catalogued and offered 678 bales. There was a very large attendance of foreign and local buyers, and. 'we are pleased to state that competition was much brisker than at the December sale. Prices also showed an advance of Id to Ji per lb on all descriptions of fine halfbreds, light in condition ; medium classes were also higher by id to \d per lb. Merino and inferior wools were without alteration. Locks and pieces sold well and brought satisfactory prices. The following were the rauge of values ; — Superior half b«-ed, 5d to Bf d ; a few lines of very choice, 9sd to lOJd ; good halfbred, 7d to 7Jd ; inferior, from 5d to 6d ; superior crossbred, 7sd to B^d ; good, 6W to 7Jd ; inferior, sid to 6Jd ; merino, best 7d to 8d ; medium and inferior, 5d to 6£d ; bellies, 3d to 4sd j superior, 5d to 6Jd; locks, lid to 3d per lb. Hides. — 2d to 3 id, according to weight and condition. Tallow,— Bough fat, 8s to 10s ; rendered, 11s to 14s. Horsehair, Is to Is 3d. Comsacks. — We have a large quantity of 46in, and 48in sacks an shall be pleased to give quotations on application. We make advances on the coming woolclip at bank rate, and have facilities to sell in Dunedin equalled by none.' Country sales conducted on the most reasonable terms. Oilcake in stock. We supply rabbit and sheep netting and quote specially by the mile. tfRUIT AND PEODUCE REPORT. Butter.— Prime salt, 6Jd. Cheese.— Good Akaroa, 4d ; factory, 4}d. Pigs. — 4d for good quality. Onions, £18. Poultry received or sale any day. Boosters, 4s ; hens, 23 6d to 2s 9d ; ducks (young) 4s 6d per pair. Beeswax, Is to Is 3d, according to quality. Egg Preservative.— We are agents for Vickery's Egg Preservative, a really good and reliable article, and to those who want cheap eggs in winter, we can thoroughly recommend it to. Full particulars on application. Fruit.— We have pleasure in advising fruitgrowers that we hold regular fruit sales three days a week and any consignment will have our best attention. We have special facilities for disposing of all kinds at full market rates. Correspondence invited. We undertake country clearing sales.
