We learn from a correspondent that Mr W. L. Crookston's dredge on the Clutha Eiver near Cromwell will probably commence work in about a week's time. The riohest gold ever discovered in the Great Boulder mine, Coolgardie, has been broken into in a lode at the 200 ft level. Massive gold pieces as large as hens' eggEj , occur in the lode, which is between 15ft and. 'iQitwifoftUfcepoiut," - •
Last week's gold returns of the following dredging companies are to hand : — Dunedin, lOoz; Golden Treasure, Boz 13dwt for two days' work ; Golden Run, 9oz 2dwt ; Otago, lOoz 7dwt ; Jutland Flat, 220z lOdwt for 150 hours' actual dredging. At their meeting on Monday, the directors of the Beaumont Local Co-operative Goldmining Company accepted the tender of Messrs Tyson and party for sawing the necessary timber for fluming boxes The company are now calling for tenders for the erection of the flaming, and by the time the pipe contract is completed the whole of the racecutting and fluming will be finished.
