CORRESPONDENCE.
THE BEAUMONT-MILLERS FLAT ROAD. (To the Editob.) Sib,— Allow me to call the attention of the members of the County Council to the state of the road from Costorphine Creek to my residence. It is simply disgraceful. It is a veritable quagmire opposite my door, and ha 3 been for this last four months almost, stopping all teamsters on the road. On three or four occasions I have acted the part of the good Samaritan and taken them in, as they could get no further, their horses being done. It could not well be otherwise as the table drain is on a level with the road and all the water from the table drain flows across the road down to my residence.
As the mining interest is strongly represented on this side of the river, I ask how can the County Council have the mining interest at heart to let the road get into its present state, almost preventing all traffic? I see that tenders are called for the conveyance of coal to the Golden Gate Co.'s dredge, but unless there is a complete change in the weather and the state of the road becomes a little better than at present, it will be impossible for any waggon to venture on this side of the river.
Hoping that the County Council will attend to this matter without delay, — I am, etc., Edward Johnston. Beaumont, 12th September.
