[Own Cobkespondent.] The House Adjourns. Dunedin, July 9th, The House, by a strict party vote, has decided to adjourn to-morrow to take part in the Ward demonstration. Legalising Consultations. Mr Lawry's Bill provides that persons promoting consultations have to receive the assent of the Colonial Secretary, and give as security a license-fee for every consultation of £25, with a stamp duty at the rate of Id for every 5s ticket imposed. Tickets oan only be for ss, 10s or 20s. Single City Electorates. Though the Premier has given notice of introducing a Bill providing for single electorates in cities, it by no means follows that the measure will be persevered with this session. The opposition of the North Island members in favor of deferring the readjustment of the electoral boundaries till after the census of 1900 may prove one of the reasons for abandoning it. The Joint Committee of Local Bills reports that a technical difficulty having arisen through non-publication of the Bank of New Zealand Estates Company's Realisation Bill, the Standing Orders be suspended to rectify same. This recommendation has been ratified by both branches of the Legislature. It is expressly stipulated that all license fees received uuder'the Act are to be applied to such purposes of public charity or use as the Governor? in-Couneil may determine. This provision, it is anticipated, will recommend the scheme to some members who will fasten on to it as providing the nucleus of an old age pension fund or for the relief of the burden of charitable aid,
