HOW THE WOMEN VOTED,
WELLINGTON, February 22. The full returns of women voting at the last General Election show that the total number of women enrolled was 109,461, that the total number who voted was 90,290, and that 19,171 through failing to vote will have their names struck off the rolls. The following are the figures in connection with the women's vote :—: — North Island. Women Women To be on who struck Rolls. Voted. off. Nelson ... 4,058 3,673 385 Marlborough 2,168 1,936 232 Westland ... 2,654 1,198 1,456 Canterbury 22,693 19,837 2,856 Otago ... 28,174 21,561 6,613 Totals ... 59,747 48,205 11,542 One of the two Westland districts was uncontested, and therefore no poll was required. Two of the Otago seats were uncontested.
