LAND BOARD.

At the Land Board meeting on Wednes day, the following business of local interest was transacted : —

APPLICATIONS APPROVED.

The following applications were approved: — To transfer deferred payment land: Ebenezer Jackson to Catherine Jackson, section 23, block IV, Waitahuna East. To transfer perpetual lease : Thomas Chapman to John. W. Gent, sections 3 and 4, block V, Rankleburn.

MOUNT BENGER.

District-surveyor Langmuir forwarded a report upon the petition from residents in Mount Benger district, praying that a portion of Run 199, togetber with a portion of Run 262 c, be cut up into sections from 200 to 400 acres ev»eh.— The following minute was recorded : — " The board is of opiuion that an area of from 700 to 800 acres, being the western portion of proposed small grazing Run 199 c, should be surveyed into areas of not less than 150 acres each, the remaining proposed small gi-azing runs— 199 d, 199e, 199f, and 199g, with the remaining portion of 199c — to be divided into three small grazing runs, as the board is opinion that proposed small grazing Ruf 199u, 199e, and 199f, from their shape, o unsuitable for occupation, and would not therpfore be taken up."

Respecting Isabella P. Kirke's application for the right to occupy under section 185 of the "Land Act 1885," 150 acres on Run 212p and also 150 acres on Run 2120, Ranger Hughan repotted that the homestead had been erected on 2120.

The Board consented to the lessee's occupation of area of 150 acres on Run 21 2p, the same being adjacent to the homestead, but could not consent to occupation of the area on 218f, there being no homestead on that.

GLENKENICH.

Messrs W. H. Batson and R. Dodds applied for a license to cut flax over 32 acres of the river reserve in blocks nt and xni, Glenkenich, two miles on each side of the Pomahaka river.

It was agreed to grant the license for one year for L5.
