Mr Bruce is almost sure to stand for fhe seat vacant by Mr Macarthur's death, and Mr Stevens is also likely to come forward. Excitement is commencing to run high in Dunedin and surrounding districts over the approaching licensing meetings. It is expected a good many hotels vrill be closed. The French, miners have resolved that an international strike is unwise.
