I have so consented in response to a widely-expressed desire that I should do so, and upon the assurance that my Candidature will meet with a very hearty support on the part of the Electors generally. I need scarcely inform you that I already have had some experience as a Member of the Parliament of the country, and my actions during that term of office are open to your fullest criticism.
