THE BEAUMONT RACES.

The Beaumont races, which take place on Monday, promise to provide a day's genuine sport, and are certain to be largely attended, if only the weather keeps fine. The acceptances have closed up remarkably well, nearly all the horses nominated having paid up, which is about the most reliable indication that the sport is likely to be fast and furious, and the different events well contested. Last year, it pa»y be remembered, the Beaumont meeting was a really capital affair, quite a surprise, in fact, those who attended being loud in their praise of the excellence of the running and the unexceptionable manner in which everything was carried out. The Lawrence contingent on the ground is likely to be large, and the same may be said of all the surrounding districts. "Warrior " supplies the following " tips " : —•Maiden Plate: Epigram 1, Tuapeka 2. Flying Handicap : Apres Moi 1, Lady Mab 2. Three-mile Trot : Young Rangi 1, Ruby 2. District Handicap : Lady Ellen 1, Shotover 2. Beaumont Handicap: Milord 1, Apres Moi 2. Two-mile Trot: Topsy 1, Johnny 2. Novel Race: Shotover 1, Recovery 2.
