CRICKET MATCH.
ISLAM) BLOCK v. MILLERS PLAT, The return match between the local cricket club and the Island Block team was played at Millers Flat last Saturday. The weather was cool and pleasant for the cricketers, and the result wms a very enjoyable day. Messrs A. Ridd and E. A. Heinekey captained the respective teams, and were successful in carrying the game through in the pleasantest manner possible to those engaged. The match, it must be said, was a rather one-sided affair, victory falling to the colours of tbe Island Block players by an innings and thirty runs. The local players were not as strong as on the first occasion when the teams met, several of the strongest players having in the interval lsf t the district. Total for two innings, 55 runs. Instead of the Island Block team going in for a second innings, a scratch match was played between sides chosen by. the respective captains, when Mr Ridd's team won by 20 runs, the scores being 79 and 59. J. Moyle with 27 rnns for the winners and C. C. Rawlins 20 for the other side were the highest scorers. A supper was provided by the Island Block team in Mr P. Laffey's hotel. The chair was occupied by Mr C. C. Rawlins. A very pleasant time was spent, all present thoroughly enjoying themselves. The Island Block team play an eleven from Dunrobin at Raes Junction to-day (Saturday.)
