THE NEW SOUTH WALES ELECTIONS,

The result of the New Sooth Wales elections has been a great suprise, for, while it means praotioally the defeat of the Parkes Ministry, it has brought into existence a new party in the shape of a united body of labor representatives. The House is to a large extent one of new representatives, and it is hard to say what turn things will now take. Certain it is that the Labor party will hold the balance of power as between the two broad sections of the House, and it will be an important factor in the immediate political developments of the future. Both sides are likely to make overtures to the new party with a view of gaining support, and it will be able to dictate terms on behalf of the laboring population of the colony. The party is said to be favorable to federation, so that the great movement of the hour is not likely to be impeded. Sir Henry Parkeshaa declined to go out of office until a motion is carried against him, and arrangements have been made for Parliament to meet on the 14th inst.
