The Bankruptcy Bill, which has passed its secorfd reading, is the measure which was submitted recently to the various Chambers of Commerce. Amongst its other provisions is one encouraging a trader to file a petition of insolvency at once when he sees that his affairs are hopeiessly embarrassed. The bill will be sent to the Statutes Revision Committee.
The Hon. J. M'Kenzie's Land Bill provides thai any purchaser of land for cash will get only a certificate of occupation, and will not receive his Crown grant unless within seven years he expends in improvements £2 per acre in the case of first-class land and £1 per acre for second-class laud.
