THE AQUATIC CHAMPIONSHIP.

SYDNEY, July 7. The sculling race between St anbury and M'Lean, for the championship of the world and L2OO a side, was rowed on the Paramatta River this afternoon. The course was from Uhr'B Point, instead of Charity Point as hitherto, thus making it 600 yards shorter than the usnal championship course. Stanbury had a slight call in tbe betting, and he had if anything a little the best of the start, but M'Lean was soon on terms with him. Up to the mile post the race was very exciting, each doing his utmost, and the boats keeping on fairly even terms. M'Lean then began to lose ground, and Stanbury gradually drew away from him. Stanbury passed Putney f oint with a length's advantage, which he had increased to three by the time Tennyson was passed, and this he maintained to the finish without the slightest exertion, Time, ISmin 25 ■tec.
