TUAPEKA BOWLING AND TENNIS CLUB.

The annual meeting of members of the above-named club was held in the Borough Council Chamber's on "Wednesday evening. There was a fair attendance ; Mr Jas. Chalmers in the chair. - The minutes of the last annual meeting were read and confirmed. i ANNUAL REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET. . The annual report, which was read by the secretary (Mr jeffery), stated that the motion cairied at last annual meeting to open a subscription-list had been liberally responded to, and resulted in a sum of £25 13s being added to the funds. The financial position of the club had improved during the pas.t year, but members were requested to endeavour to keep the membership up to an average of forty if possible. During the season, the club played four inter-club bowling matches, winning one and losing three. The club had won the Association medal a second time. Owing to the New Zealand bowling tournament being held at Christchurch, the club's best players did not find it convenient to attend. The President presented a trophy to be played for in rinks, which, after some good play,, was won by Mr Jas. Chalmers' rink. The tennis courts were not patronised as well during the past season as the committee could have desired. During the season three interclub matches were played. The first, Lawrence versus Milton, . ended in a drawn game in favour of Milton. The second and third against Milton and Balclutha were played on the Milton green, both ending in favour of Lawrence. Mr A. Macdonald presented a cake to be played for, which was won by Messrs Morris and Crooke. The club ■is indebted to those ladies and gentlemen who provided Thursday afternoon refreshments on the green; also to Messrs Jas. Chalmers and A. Macdonald, who supplied the trophies, and to the caretaker (Mr Motherwell) for the excellent manner in which the green has been kept and for his obliging dispositions. The accompanying balance-sheet showed that the receipts from all sources during the past year amounted to £90 14s, and the expenditure to £63 3s 3d, leaving a balance of £27 10s 9d. The club's outstanding liabilities 'at date amounted to £35 12s 6d, and the assets to £29 0s 9d, thus leaving a debit of £6 11s 9d. The report and balance-sheet, on the motion of Mr Arbuekle, seconded by Mr Macdonald, were received and adopted.

PRESENTATION RINK MEDALS, ETC., Mr Morris, afc the requeji of the Chairman, presented the medrals to the winning bowling rink (Mr Jas. Chalmers'). • A vote of thanks was accorded Messrs Chalmers and Macdonald, the donors of trophies. ELECTION, OV OFFICERS, ETC., The following' officers were appointed for the. current year : — president, Mr Jas. Chalmers; vice-president, Mr A. Morris; treasurer, Mr M. M'Lean; 'secretary, Mr Geo. Jeffery. . Messrs. "Woods; Arbuekle, - Leary, and barton* were .appointed a committee of management for the current year. . ' ' ' VOTES OF THANKS. A vote of thank 3 was accorded the retiring officers and members of the committee of management. It was also resolved to convey the best thanks of the Club to Mr Motherwell in recognition of the excellent way in which he had carried out his duties as caretaker of the bowling green and tennis lawn. BOWLING ASSOCIATION DELEGATES. Messrs Chalmers and Gibson were appointed as the Club's representatives to the Bowling Association.
