Peter Ferguson, Whare Creek, was charged, on the information of the police, with being illegally on the premises of Johanna Butler, Waipori.

The evidence went to show that at atnut two o'clock on a recent Sunday morning the accused called at the complainant's b.DUBo and asked for a shake-dowu. There being no response he burst in the door and entered the house. Complainant's son got up and went for assistance, and accused ran after him, and the door was re-fastened during his absence.

Mr M'Coy appeared for the accused, and pleaded guilty to entering the premises whilst unJer the influence nf liquor. His Worship said that accused had rendered himself liable to a fine of £10 or three months' imprisonment; but as he had pleaded guilty, and as the complainant did not press for a severe punishment, he would let him off with a fine of £5 and costs (£4 12s) ; or, in default, one month's imprisonment, with hard labour, in Lawrence gaol. ON THE. POOTPATH. Charles Mullins, tor riding on the footpath at Tuapeka Flat, was fined 5s and costs. CIVII, OA3EB. Borough of Lawrence v. E. Towity, — Claim of £4, tor rates. Judgment for amouni and costs (6s). John Morrison v. John Girvan.— Claim of £1 11s. Mr Finlayson for plaintiff. Judgment for amount and costs (22s 6d). T. Arthur r. W. Thompson.— Claim of £5 63 3d, judgment summons. Mr M'Coy appeared for plaintiff. Evidence was adduced to show that the defendant had received £50 from the County Council since judgment had

been given.— Order made for amount to he paid within a month, or fourteen days' imprisonment.
