At a meeting of the Goldfields Committee this morning, the reduction of miners' rights was lost by the vote of the Chairman. Mr Pyke has agreed to the annua^rent 'of, mining leases 1 being reduced below £2 per acre. The School Committees Election Bill passed' its second reading this afternoon. The House is now pushing on the work, and the session will be through by the end of next month.
