■ An exile from the Human breast ; Like Noah's dove forth hast thou sped

To find a more congenial rest. We hear of Happiness .on earlb, , But who will say with whom it dwells,; > We join in revels, huotiug mirth, t, i And 'tis not there experience tell?. .Who in this life has not been crossed, * A lucky dog is tie I ween ; With honor, gone and fortune lost * We challenge Fate to end the scene. From youth- to comely manhood up We seek for pleasure, finding pain ; We early taste life's bitter cup, Id age the fulsome drega we drain. Atlc the poor man, he cau tell : Bare drops of happiness he shares ; While penury, he knows too well ■ \ He cannot be devoid of cares. ---* Ask ihe rich man, the millionaire, If peace of mind doth with him dwell ; He honestly will this declare : ; * Ambition dogs bis footsteps still. Even dukes and lords, with all their show,.. - Hare pressing cares 'neath which theystpact. ' -Deeply "they drain the cup of woe ;' '"' • Their dazzling show corrodes' the heart.
