I 'PRICE HALF A CROWN Established in Australia in 1864. A MEDICINE to be taken internally, and used externally, for all NERVOUS DISEASES and INFLAMMATORY ACHES and PAINS, composed of the choicest Aromatic Herbs, Healing Gums, Balsams, and Vegetable Oils. Cures Rheumatism, Sciatica, G-out, Cholera, S Coughs SPECIALITY ! SPECIALISTS ! ! DRAW ON NATURE— SHE COMPELS YOU TO HONOR THE ACCEPTANCE. rpHIRTY years since, when Dr Smith first J_ commenced practice here, it was thought by medical men that to be a Specialist was derogatory to the professional man, but this, like most other innovations in scientific and lay matters, was found rather to aid than to be "infra dig" to that profession, wherein the speciality was practised Lallemand and Eicord, in France, and Acton, in England, were for years cried down by their medical brethren. Now and for many years past they have been looked up to and quoted by every man who pretends to have any knowledge of the particular branch of the profession which these gentlemen specially devoted themselves to. It was the same with Erasmus Wilson, the "Skin Doctor," recently knighted by Her Majesty. Years since, it was the same with Dr L. L. Smith, of Melbourne, who practised (as did Lallemand aud Eicord) as a Specialist. In all cases of diseases and habits which produce symptoms of Nervous Affections, of Skin Eruptions, of Prostration, and make human beings invirile, or which unfit them to carry on the purposes of their being, or which demonstrates itself, on the ol her hand, in Eruptive Diseases and Secondary forms of Affections, In all of these cases, how necessary it is to have the Specialist who has devoted his whole lifetime to the studying and practising in this one branch of his profession? Hence, now, after so many years, all minutiae are familiar to him, and symptoms which (it is not unreasonable to suppose) may not strike the Geneval Practitioner at once, now from constant practice and observation make Dr L, L. Smith master of the subjecb. The medical Profession — that is, the more liberal-minded of them— have likewise recognised this fact, and Specialists now in every branch — oculists, aurists, syphilic, mental diseases, chest > diseases, and in fact every portion of the human frame, has now some member of the profession who devotes his time to that and to none other. For instance, the " chest doctor " would on no account attend on accouchement, and the ocu« list would not think of setting a broken leg j but each would advise his patient to go to that doctor who is most famed for treating the disease requiring special skill. Dr L. L, Smith asks those who require treatment for Weakuess, Prostration, Barrenness, and Sterility, whose frames and whose constitutions are shattered, to consult him as an expert — thirty (30) years' practice in this Colony, with a practice extending throughout not only the Colonies but in Tndia, China, Fiji, and even in England, his claims «ught to be sufficient to cause every man or woman requiring such skill as is alluded to above, to consult him either personally or by letter. As a Syphilographer, no other medical man has been able to have such large experience as he possesses, and for other allied affections — such as Nervous disease — no one iv the profession has enjoyed so much public confidence. Consultation Fee by Letter, £1. Medicines appropriately packed and for. warded all over the civilised globe. DR L. L. SMITH, 182, Collins-street East, Melbourne.
