INTERPROVINOIAL. (Per , Press .Association.) Auckland, December 14th. Richard Feltus, 'the son' of an old colonist, has been committed to the Lunatic Asylum. He was disc>vbred in a sinking condition, after a day's search, by the' police in Horseshoe Bush, at Riverhead.
Wellington, December 14th. Ah inquest was held to-day on the body of a young woman named Florence Woverly, aged 19, who was found dead in bed at her employer's residence. The medical evidence went to show that there were no signs of violence present, and on carefully examining the whole of the internal organs they were found to be in a perfect state of health. The brain wiia also healthy. No pathological change whatever was observable sufficient to account for death. Tlie contents of the stomach had not been analysed, but had been carefully secured and handed over to the police for that purpose, if necessary. There was a slight discolouration about the hands and face. The inquest was adjourned until Monday to allow of an analysis being made of the contents of the stomach. '
December 36th.
A caße of infanticide was reported this morning. A young girl named Kate Baylan, aged nineteen, and engaged as domestic servant to a gentleman in Wellington, gave birth this morning to a full grown female child, and subsequently the infant was found dead in an outhouse. The body was removed, awaiting an inquest. An axe, stained with blood, has been discovered.
Timaru, December 15th. At the Supreme Court to day, James Cheyne, charged with highway robbery and common assault, was acquitted of the former and found guilty of the latter. He was sentenced to seven months* hard labour, having been in gaol already for five months.
Chbistchukch, December 15th. % Great dissatisfaction exists amongst the Christchnrch consigners of the Triumph at the action of Shaw, SayilV, agent in Auckland, in demanding bills of lading and the appointment of agents iti Auckland to take delivery, causing vexatious delay and annoyance. '
December 16th.
The Hons. Rolleston and Mitchelaon. received adeputationfrom the unemployed workirigmen at the City Council Chambers last night. They were addressed by the Mayor and by Messrs Montgomery, Holmes, Wynn Williams, and White, who strongly urged the necessity of finding immediate work. The married men unemployed represent 1234 persons in destitute circumstances. Altogether 307 signed the petition. The Ministers said they would consider what could be done, and let the Mayor know on Monday. There was a large crowd of men outside waiting for the result. They were very orderly. Arthur Henry Gainsford, three years old, son of Egbert Gainsford, a farmer on the New Brighton Road, was drowned yesterday afternoon in the Avon. Deceased was playing in a boat with two boys of six and nine years, and overbalanced and fell out. He was quite dead when hia father got him out of the water.
