(From our own Correspondent.) Dunedin, July 10th. At the Supreme Court to-day, Loutb, of Tapanui, was found guilty of embezzlement. Mr Denniston withdrew the legal point he raised on the first charge. Prisoner will be sentenced to-morrow. At-a meeting of merchants and importers to-day, it was decided to take action: against Government for the value of the goods destroyed at the goods-shed fire. The Magisjrtrate said his experience of Banger - Burt, in previous cases was that he was a credible witness, and he fined defendants 50s each with costs.
