A PUBLIC MEETING Will afterwards be held in the Church, to be addressed by the Revs. W. Keall, J. Menzies, W. Baumber, and other gentlemen. (tarn-en jrl 0 Ferguson and Thompson report selling at Mr Peter Robertson's yards, on Wednesday last, as follows : — On account of Mr Robertson — 500 full-mouth ewes, at 3s each (purchased by Mr John Drysdale) ; and rams, at 30s each (purchased by Mr Kell). On account of Mr F. Munro— s7 4-tooth ewes, r at 6s ; and 43 lambs, at 4s 6d (purchased by Mr Robertson). Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co. report for the week ending 26th February, 1879, as follows :— Fat Cattle. — An unusually large supply came forward for to-dajr's market, 300 head being yarded, nearly all *of them, however, finding buyers at about 5s per 1001 b under last week's Juotations. We sold 116 head on account of ohn Reid, Esq. (Corner Bush), James Smith, Esq. (Greenfield), Messrs Synnot Brothers, G. Wallace, W. L. Riddell, W. Geary, jun., and John Waldie. Bullocks brought from L 8 10s to Ll4 los ; cows, L 6 15s to LlO 10s— or equal to 27s 6d per 1001 b for good quality, and 22s 6d for medium do. Privately we have sold 50 head, at equal to 27s 6d per 1001 b. Fat Calveß, 37 yarded, which sold at from 25s to 35s each. Fat Sheep. — The moderate number of 1852 was penned, all of which sold readily at an advance of 2s per head on last week's quotations. We sold on account of the N.Z. and A.L. Co. 283 cross-breda, at from 11s to 13s ; also a draft of small cross-breda, at from 8s 6d to 9s. We quote mutton at 2d to 2£d per lb. Fat Lambs. — 213 penned, which sold at from 6s 9d to Bs. Store Sheep. — We have considerable inquiries for young merino sheep and cross-bred wethers. We quote 4 and 6-tooth cross-bred wethers at from 7s 9d to 8s ; do 2-tooth, 7s to 7s 6d ; do lambs, 5s 6d to 6s ; merino wethers, 4 and 6tooth, 6s j do do full-mouthed, ss ; do ewes, 4 and 6-tooth, 7s 6d to 8s j do full-mouthed, 4s to 4s 6d. At these quotations we have sold 2500 2 and 4-tooth merino ewes. Horses. — At our sale on Saturday last there was a fair supply, including one of Mr Robert Gawn's 8-horse teams, waggon, and harness, For the horses there was a fair demand, the whole of them being sold at from L3B to L 55. We quote first-class draughts at from LSO to L 55 ; medium, L4O to L 45;4 5; light, L2stoL 35 ; good hacks and light harness horses, L 25 to L3O ; medium, Lls to L2O : light and inferior, L3toLlo. ; Wool. — The following cablegram has been received under date London, 23rd February : — " The wool sales are showing symptoms of weakness, and prices are now ruling 10 per cent, lower than at the last February sales." Sheepskins. — There was a good attendance at our weekly sale on Monday last, prices ruling about the Bame as last week. Our catalogue consisted of about 600 country skins, which sold at from Is 2d to 3s 6d each. Hides and Tallow.— We did not offer any. # Grain.— Wheat is quite unsaleable. Quotations merely nominal. Oats are ia limited enquiry. We quote old feed at 3s 7d ; (new) milling,' 3s ; do. feed, 2s 9d. Barley— None offering; prime samples wanted. Prices for the season are not yet established.
