WASTE LANDS BOARD.
{From tlve "Daily Times.") The ordinary weekly meeting of the Waste Lands Board was held on Wednesday. Present— Mr J. P. Maitland (Chief Commissioner^, and Commissioners Clark, Gretn, Thomson, and Bastings. TDAPEKA WEST. The District Land Officer, Lawrence, forwarded for consideration deferred-pay-ment certificates granted to the Board of Inquiry to Steward M'Comb for sections 48, 49, and 66, block 111, Tuapeka West ; and to John M'Corab for sections 56, 57, and 68, block 111, same district, with objections raised thereto by Messrs Darton. The matter was adjourned for a fortnight, owing to Mr Stout's inability to attend. LEASES CANCELLED. The gold-mining lease of Thos. Simpson, section 7, block IV, Waipori, was cancelled. The agricultural lease of J. M'Donald, section 13, block XI, Tuapeka West, was cancelled. BENGER. Francis Pringle applied to purchase sec22, block 111, Benger. — Approved. MANAGEMENT OF COMMONAGES. Mr Bastings moved : — "That the Chief Commissioner be requested to ask the Government when it is their intention to give effect to a recommendation to vest the management of commonages in the County Councils within their respective districts, it being within the knowledge of the Board the public interests are suffering from the want of effect being given to such recommendation." — Agreed to. DEPERRED-rAYMENT LEASES. The following applications to purchase deferred-payment leases were received :—: — John White, sections 14, 15, and 16, block I, Cairn Hill. James Barry, sections 40. 51, and 2 of 50, block 111, Glenkenich district.— Both applicati ns approved.
