TUAPEKA HOSPITAL SUBSCRIPTIONS.
- (To the Editor.) Sib, — Tn your issue of the 22nd mat., my attention was drawn ny an advertisement to this eflWt : '" The following is a list of subscriptions received for the coming year " — said list amounting to £4 4s. (3d. Sometime ago Mr. Matthew Hay called upon me with a subscription list for the benefit of the Tuapeka Hospital, stating at the same time that he was appointed collector. I put my name down for £2 25., and have paid the money this
year. I saw many other names of citizens on the Mst. The collector gave me to understand the list was for 1.573. Upon enquiry, I find others were told the same thing, and thai he would supply the admission tickeis to all the subscribers that were entitled to receive them, and also that the list of subscribers would be published. What I, with others, want to know is : Aro we subscribers for 1873, and, if so, why is not the list published for the very large sums Mr. Hay collected as well as the small sums above referred to ? The information would bo satisfactory to them that deliuht to support so noble an institution. Perhaps some of the Committee may be able to answer the queries. — I am, &c, AitGUS.
