MEETING OF BOARD OF WAR. DENS
(To the Editor of the Tuapeka Times.) Sib, — Allow me to call attentiou to your remarks with respect to Mr. Gascoigne's letter in your last week's issue. I hope for the credit of your paper you will not identify it with necessitarianism. If Mr. Mackay elects to leave his circulars at a drapery establishment rather than deliver them himself, when within gunshot | of the people to whom they are addressed, it speaks well for officialism. I should have been in the same position as Mr. Gascoigne had it not been for the prompt kindness of a neighbor, although, I should not have been much the loser had I not received any notice of the firat meeting of Wardens for the depasturing district of Tuapeka I also observe in the same issue of your paper that my name is included with the rest of the members that were at the meeting. I beg to state that I was not at the meeting when the propositions referred to were passed, havingleft previously with disgust. Before leaving, I proposed, " That the feeling of the Beard be taken with respect to the Depasturing Regulations." Mr. Mackay told the Board that, if seconded, he would not put the proposition to the Board ; that I had no right to refer to the regulations after accepting them. I emphatically deny that ever I have accepted tbem, nor will I do so until they have been before a full Board of Wardens. I protest against the ruling of the meeting of the 10th inst. — I am, &c., Thomas Gbtjwdy. Waitahuna district, August 18, 1868.
