RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT, LAWRENCE.
(Before Major Croker, R.M.) Friday, 10th July. Clark v. Clark. John Clark, brewer, Lawrence, summoned John M. Clark for the /sum of £20, damages sustained by plaintiff in consequence of defendant assaulting and otherwise maltreating him. The, evidence adduced proved that the defendant struck and abused the plaintiff i whilst on the ground ; but as to the commencement of the scuffle the evidence was conflicting. Messrs. Keen and Shepherd addressed the Court. Verdict for plaintiff, £5, costs of Court and value of damage ; the plaintiffs witnesses to b& paid at the rate of 10s. each, to come out of the fine. Mr. Shepherd moved for an arrest of execution until the defendant got judgment against plaintiff for £2 Bs. 6d. owing, for bread. Keex v. Cooper. — Amount, £18, dishonored acceptance. No appearance of defendant. Verdict for- plaintiff for amount claimed, costs of Court, and 10s. expenses. Henderson v. Aimers. — Claim, £3 os. 6d. No appearance of defendant.. Verdict for plaintiff for amount claimed, costs of Court, and 10s. expenses.
