Council Meeting LuU Till 3 a.m. The Lyttelton Borough Council met as a committee on Monday evening to discuss the financial position of the borough and the reorganisation of its staff. The meeting lasted until about 2 am. This constituted the longest sitting of the council for about twenty years. It is anticipated that the discussion at next Monday’s meeting ol the council will be of particular interest Billiards Tournament. J. Neville was the winner of the flying fifty billiards handicap tournament played at the Lyttelton Club on Monday evening. F. Easton was runner-up. Personal. Mr K. J. Ilardie. who has Ween the Lyttelton representative for Messrs Dalgety and Co', Ltd , for the past five years, has been transferred temporarily to take charge of the passenger department at the Christchurch office. ( Mr J. C. Cullman, of the Christchurch office, will relieve at Lyttelton in the meantime. Yachting. A meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Yacht and Motor Boat Club was held last evening, the president, Mr C. E. Brown, being in the chair. The meeting confirmed the view of the Yachting Association in respect to future yachting contests. The meeting also considered arrangements for the club's fair, which will be held in October.
