NEW BRIDGE OPENED.

Per Press Association. WAIPUKURAU, This Day. The official opening of the new Waipukurau traffic bridge was performed this afternoon by the Minister of Public Works, in the presence of a large gathering representative of Central Hawke’s Bay.

The new structure, which is in concrete, cost £13,500, and is 900 ft long and 30ft wide, including a 22ft roadway and a 4ft pathway, with 20 spans of 45ft.

The bridge displaces the present bridge over the Tuki Tuki River along the borough boundary', erected in 1888 at a cost of £6OOO, and condemned as unsafe in 1915 and from time to time
