HIGH SCHOOL BOARD.
Reports Submitted at Ashburton Meetings. (Special to the “ Star.”) ASHBURTON, June 25. The Ashburton High School Board met to-day. Present: Mr J. W. Bowden (chairman), Ur G. I. Miller, Messrs J. Brown, F. Frampton, W. T. Dili. H. It. C. McElrea and M. Bruce. The head master (Mr E. A. Cookroft) reported that the roll number was 232 (130 boys and 102 girls) compared with 223 Inst year. Referring to the farm, he stated that team work had been delayed by broken weather. There was an abundance of feed and the ewes were wintering well. It was agreed to purchase the new heater (which was on trial) and three others at a cost of £3l 10s. to replace the electric heaters. It was decided to write to the Education Department asking the reason for the discontinuance of the payment of extra salary in the case of the senior mistress.
