Muttcff. fine Is firm owing to short supply. Hemp—Manila.- Market firmer on American and Japanese buying. ** K ” grade for August-October shipment sold at £l3 10s. Closing values £l3 15s. Output January l to June 1, 610,000 bales, against 600.000 bales for the same period last stocks in the United Kingdom at June 1. 20,060 bales against 21,150 bales for last year. Stocks ip Manila at June 1, 171.000 bales against 155,000 bales for last year. Sisal- Market firm with fair demand. Closing values for July-September shipment £l6 7s 6d. Sentember-November shipment sold up to £l6 10s. New Zealand: Market unchanged. On the basis of fair grade the nommal value Is £ls 10s. No first hand sales imported. Stocks in London at June 1, 24 tons against 11 tons for last year. Fruit—Kara men and Tongariro shipments discharged in good condition. Apples: Better demand at firmer prices. Jonathan, Delicious. The weekly stock sale at the Ashburton Kaleyards to-day was conducted in rain, but there was a fair attendance of buyers. Quality and prices were about the same as at Tinwald last Tuesdav. Cochrane Bros. (Elgin) were the most successful vendors of ewes this morning, receiving 21s 4d for five (maiden) and 15s Id for three. J. Gibson (Mount Hutt) got 13s 4d for seven; J. Bonifant (Wakanui). 13s Id for seventeen, 12s 7d for ten, 12s 4d for six and 12s Id for sixteen. One on account of F. G. Evans (Ashburton Forks) fetched 12s 9d. Other nrime ewes ranged from 10s 4d to Us lOd; medium sorts from 9s 4d to 9s lOd; and light-weights sold at 6s 4d. Sales, on account of a client, in the wether pens this morning included 27 at 20s 7d. 12 at 20s Id and 2 at ISs «d; and sales of lambs were: One each at 19s 3d. 18s 3d and 14s. There was a fair yarding of cattle, hut the only sales made at auction were three runners at £1 7s 6d each; an |jnpty cow at £3 5s and a dairy cow at WHEAT QUOTATIONS. ] (Received June 25, 2 p.m.) LONDON.
