UNEMPLOYED WOMEN.

Monthly Committee Meeting. The monthly meeting of the Christchurch Women's Unemployment Committee. held last night, was attended by the following members: Mesdames W. G. Roberts, W. F. Kent-Johnstone, Denniff, Parlane, Misses Cardale, C. Robinson, F. L. Cooper, Graham, M G. Havelaar and Mr R. T. Bailey. In the absence of Mrs Fraer, Mr Bailey was voted to the ohair. Correspondence was received from the Minister of Employment in regard to matters appertaining to unemployed women and girls, and stating that they would be brought before the board at an early date. The following monthly reports were presented: Employment Committee—Employed in the sewing centre, 39: cooking centre, 13; training centre, 23: Lyttelton girls, 3; supervisors, 3; office staff, 2: new registrations. 8; standing off training centre, 4; under fourteen days on, 22: live list on June 1, 11; total on active list on ..June 1, 128; placed in positions, 5; employed in subsidised positions. 16. Cooking Centre—Dinners served, 1144; teas, 220; morning teas. 351; afternoon teas, 339; week-end meals, 89. Training Centre—Dinners served. 1627; breakfasts, 98; morning teas 1324afternoon teas, 961 ; total, *153. Sewing Centre—Garments and articles made, 385; repaired. 4; total. 389 Of the articles made Mrs Sullivan received 200. Red Cross Association 142, Centre 19, Nurse Maude 16, Deaconess Gainsford 8. The Advisory Committee reported that it had received five applications for subsidies for domestic assistance, four were recommended .and one held over. Seven applications for renewals of room rent had been received, also two new applications for room rent. All were granted with the exception of one whom ft was considered should return to l.er home. Fortv homes were visited by the investigating officer. A motion of sympathy with Mrs Roberts in the death of her sister was passed.
