Dinner to Celebrate Tenth Anniversary. On Saturday evening the members of Toe H in Christchurch celebrated the tenth anniversary of the starting of Toe TI in Canterbury. The proceedings took the form of a dinner at the Melody Lane Cafe, which was attended by some 200 members, followed by an entertainment in the Toe H rooms in Latimer Square, contributed by members. At the dinner, the chairman for Canterbury (Mr A. S. Geddes) read messages of goodwill and apologies for absence from various members and friends, including the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.), Bishop West-Watson and the headmasters of the secondary schools. The programme included a negro minstrel entertainment by Messrs Bruce Leighton, Philip Wvnne-Yorke and their company from Christchurch North Toe ■H. sung in costume by the camp-fire. A pleasing quartette was one of their numbers, also the choruses “ Steal Away ” and •* Good-night, Ladies.” Messrs Cliff Wilson and Hector Macdonald, of Too H, Lyttelton, contributed a monologue, *' Belts and Braces,” and the violin solo “ Cavalleria Rusticana,” respectively. Members of the Christ’s College circle, led by H. Beale, next sang a medley of popular songs. A Wild West costume drama by the ladies of the Christchurch North L.W.H. proved realistic and thrilling, Miss Connie Collett and Miss Molly Maxwell playing the principal parts. Mr S. Martin and the Christchurch South members sang the " Soldier s Farewell,” and Mr Martin sang the tenor solos, "When You Remember Me” and the “ Psalm of Life.” Mr Lyn Boulton (Sumner Group) gave a humorous monologue, and Mr W. Potts sang ” Tell Me To-night.” A bevy of Maori maidens < Christchurch branch of the L.W.H.) gave a delightful rendering of the following numbers: " Haere Mai,” ” Pokare kare ana,” " E paria.” ** Home. Little Maori, Home,” and “ Farewell.” Finally the parent branch contributed a mock meeting as a setting for the song “ The Drum-Major." Mr Angus Gray: two recitations, “Out Upon It: I Have Loved” and ‘‘Kingdom of God,” Mr J. Pope; and the choruses •* A Bit of a Tease ” and ” Lown Among the Lead Men,” by members. “ Light ” was taken by Mr A. S. Stanley. of Lyttelton, and Family Prayers by the Regional Padre. The supper was the gift of the ladles of Toe H. and included a fine birthday cake, beautifully decorated. An informal dance after supper terminated at midnight with the singing of ** Auld Lang Syne.”
