ON ’CHANGE.

Woolworths Quoted Firmly. AN ACTIVE CALL. Procera Bread Sell at High Level. A b:g list of sales was.recorded at the morning call on ’Change to-day, with a few notable price changes. Two issues in the unlisted section commanded most interest, Procera Bread (10s paid) selling at new peak levels, and recording a rise of 14s 6d since last week’s business. Closing quotations were still very strong. Woolworths (Sydney ord.) were again in request, and came on the sales list at another small advance. Full quotations were made for Government issues, and business was put through iq the 1955 stock at a reduced price; but offers were strong in all positions, and sellers were reluctant to do business. Among the banks, Xational of New Zealand were quoted firmly between 69s and 72s 6d; and New Zealand looked stronger between 50s 3d and 51a. New Zealand Refrigerating shares were a little uncertain at the recent low rates, a seller of the fully paids T>eing unsupported at 19s sd, while the contributing scrip rfianged hands at last week’s level. Buyers for Auckland Gas came in at 26s without response; and the Christchurch. company shares were firmly held. Values were variable in> miscellaneous issues. Sellers of Beath and Co. lowered their limits by 6d; and DunlopPerdriau Rubber again changed hands on an easier market. Broken Hill Proprietary, on the other hand, recovered to 595; and Colonial Sugar were quoted stronger than ever, buyers at £43 5s getting no response from holders. Woolworths (N.Z. ord.), cum dividend had sellers at over £l3, buyers stopping at £l2 10s. In the mining section, there was a large turnover, and Maori Gully relapsed by lid. Mahakipawa, following the poor return from the mine last week, were quoted on an easier market. Sellers of Waihi at 39s were well ahead of buyers at 35s 6d.

(Special to the “Star/' AUCKLAND, This Day. The Stock Exchange opened the new week with a confident tone, and a fair list of sales was completed at the first call. Bidding was fairly steady in all sections. in the banking class Reserve regained the 3d dropped on Saturday and changed hands at £6 9s 6d. after which the market lay between £6 9s 3d and £6 9s 9d. Government stocks were asked for in all issues, but the only offerings were a parcel of 1949’s at £lO9 10s, and one of 1955*s at £ll2 ss. Many of the local body debentures we: e again on offer. Insurances were steady at week-end rates, and New Zealands had further business at 68s. New Zealand Breweries were unchanged with a sale at 52s 3d; Colonial Sugar were firm between £43 and £44 5s while Woolworths (Sydney) had business at 92s 6d and 935. Subsequently the market stood from 92s 9d to 945.

WELLINGTON, June 23. His Majesty’s Arcade ftnd Theatre Co., Ltd. has advised the Stock Exchange that the association companv will pay an interim dividend on July 1 of 2 3-5 per cent on .the Preference and 3 per cent on Ordinary shares.

More than £7.000,000 is to be expended and 10,000 workless engaged on a land reclamation scheme along the coast of Schleswig-Holstein.
