Bitter Italian Press Campaign. United Press Assn.— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. ROME, May 29." A virulent newspaper campaign has been waged against Great Britain ever since it could no longer be concealed that Great Britain was not unanimously in favour of Italian policy towards Ethiopia. An editorial in the newspaper ”11 Tevere," entitled “Our Friends the English,” in which Mr R. A. Eden is scurrilous! y attacked, - after declaring that there is an enormous difference between the British and the Italian races, especially regarding civilisation, says: “Italy will never be capable of introducing civilisation into Africa with the j methods used in 1901 by Lord Roberts in ; the Transvaal, which, as even school I children know, included the burning of j factories, crops and flocks and the sending of a* omen and children to concentration camps.” This newspaper reproduces a French cartoon on the South African War showing British troops kicking and mishandling women and children.
