NO OVERTURES.

Anglo-American Currency Parley Unlikely. British Official Wireless. (Received May 30, 11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, May 29. Replying to a question in Parliament, the Prime Minister said that the Government had not been in recent communication with the Government of the United States with a view to holding a conference on currency stabilisation and the reduction of the barriers to international trade. Replying to a supplemental question as to whether, in view of the speeches by persons in authority there, which appeared to be favourable to a new approach to this question, the Prime Minister would not himself take the initiative, Mr MacDonald said,: “ No, we do not ‘require at this late hour to take the initiative. We have been trying to get the initiative taken and up to now we have not been very successful.”
