THRILLING DRAMA.
Crystal to Show “ Devil Dogs of the Air.” “The Private Life of Don Juan ” will conclude its run at the Crystal Palace Theatre to-morrow night. James Cagney, Pat O’Brien and Frank McHugh, who were such a great success in “ Here Comes the Navy,” will be seen at the Crystal Palace Theatre on Friday' in the exciting drama “ Devil Dogs of the Air.” “ Devil Dogs of the Air ” has more thrills than “ Here Comes the Navy,” which puts it in a class by itself. It presents daredevil stunts by flying marines that beggar description, and a dozen battleships participate in naval manoeuvres directed by the mighty' U.S.S. Macon. Countless aeroplanes zipp and zoom through the picture, and fearless flyers crash their planes in mid-air and leap in parachutes from burning ships. As a thrill spectacle it is unsurpassed. Cagney has never given a better performance than his portrayal of a confident youth who joins the marines because he cannot keep out of airships. He gets into the aviation corns through the kindness of a marine officer fifom his home town, and rewards that officer by stealing his girl and generally keeping him in hot water. With Pat O’Brien playing the part of the marine officer and Cagney opposite him, it is inevitable that the scenes should resound with wise cracks, battles, breath-taking adventures and pathos, in which both stars are past masters. Margaret Lindsay plays the feminine lead, and in the role of a pretty waitress who is the darling of the marine corps, she is constantly called upon to prove her artistry'. Box plans at the D.I.C.
